E-book EIRPAC 2019

E-book EIRPAC 2019
After seven months of intense work, we present "The Search for the Common - Artistic Practices for Other Possible Futures". This book, available for free, integrates the reflections and investigations carried out by a group of 38 researchers, from 26 institutions and artistic/cultural entities from 6 countries, in the field of community and multidisciplinary artistic practices.
The texts included in this publication,, after a blind peer review process, are inspired by the latest edition of Eirpac (held between 16 and 18 September 2019, as part of MEXE) which brought together at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Porto more than 200 participants in 88 actions (communications, workshops, posters, exhibitions, conferences).
In a present in which we need to look at other possible futures, we wish you good readings!

Caterina Moroni

Caterina Moroni
In September 2019, MEXE presented "Duck March #porto", a workshop and performance by Caterina Moroni. Like a real assault on the city, a march of pregnant women invaded the streets of Porto. Now on video, a narrative that gives us back the occupation of public space in times of confusion.

Vladimir Safatle

Vladimir Safatle
In times of confusion, we continue to move.
We share on our various channels, with free access, the opening conference of MEXE 2019, “A Common beyond Human” by Vladimir Safatle (USP-Universidade de São Paulo)
The will to move (mexe) is even greater now.
May this be a time that prepares us to build more “communal” days. A lot of strength for US!!

Crowdfunding Mexe

Crowdfunding Mexe
Mexe strives to create a space for participation that can redefine our actions and ways of living in common. A space that needs the support of society as a whole to persist in this desire to create alternatives for current modes of production and our daily lives.
Mexe launched a crowdfunding for the shared construction of its 5th edition, challenging all citizens to contribute to the organization of the festival in an alternative way.

Faro extension

Faro extension
Between 12 and 15 November, the extension of Faro from MEXE - International Art and Community Festival took place. Teatro das Figuras assumes itself as a space for reflection around memories, identities and feelings of belonging, through the construction of two unpublished shows with the city's population. The challenge was the creation of two moments that, crossing performance and music, thought about the citizenship and the daily pertinence of Faro's inhabitants. The first of the workshops, led by Edith Scher, focused on the community theater practices that it has been developing in Argentina for over 35 years, and the second, by Josep Borrás, proposed the creation of a musical show with basketballs. Both shows were presented to the public. The program for this extension MEXE in Faro, ended with a conversation between Hugo Cruz, artistic director of the festival, and Edith Scher on the theme of Artistic Community Practices in dialogue.
